Hi, I'm curious how others are dealing with anxiety. I feel like it is getting worse as they years go by.

I deal with it by giving myself plenty of time and space and then getting annoyed enough by it to go out and do the things I want to anyway Hate to let it stop me. Sx

Medication helps.  I notice the anxiety has gotten worse the older I get as well.  I finally gave in to the idea of medication and it has made a big difference.

Thanks for the feedback. I do take Cymbalta. It has really cut down on my "worrying". I haven't been able to find anything that targets anxiety though. I do make time for myself. I just find that I am beginning to hate making commitments and plans. I am also finding that I feel more and more uncomfortable in social situations. I would love to hear from anyone that has had luck with medication.

Hi,
Abilify has been a GOD send for my daugters.  It has cut down on the anxiety in school.  My 8 year old use to have 2-3 meltdowns a day at school.  She is taking only 1 mg of Abilify daily.   She has not had a meltdown since she started the medication.  School has become enjoyable for her.  She is able to take spelling test.  She has become teachable.  Her anxiety levels were so high she was refusing to leave the house.  Abilify has not affected her personality.

Melissa,

Thanks for the feedback. I never thought about Abilify for myself, but I'm with you! Abilify was a life changer for our son. Dr. Hagerman prescribed it on a trip to U.C. Davis. The word "meltdown", ceased to exist in our world! I don't suppose you know any adults who have ever taken it?

Have a great day and thanks again!
Molly

As I have gotten older anxiety has certainly become an issue.  I'm taking Effexor for depression & ADD, but like the Wellbutrin I was on before it seems to increase the anxiety for me.  Dr Hagerman put my  14 year old son on Celexa (he couldn't tolerate Abilify, zoloft, or prozac) a couple years ago& seems ok in combating his severe anxiety.  I would really like to try Prozac because even though it's an older drug I was impressed by what I read in Dr. Hagerman's book about it's helpfulness in the FX population.
