My son is 2 1/2, he does not show any signs of being ready to potty train.  Do you think I would be pushing it if i just start training him?  ie. maybe teaching him the sign for potty and bring him into the bathroom when i see him having a bm?  or should i wait until he shows some signs of being ready?  I just feel like if I wait on him he would be content to be in diapers forever!

Hi Melis,

It took our son Payton awhile to become potting trained, especially into kindergarten. We kept trying to train. Fortunately, our son began doing a potty dance which helped. We also began taking him to the potty 1/2 hour after he would drink. He is 7 now and still will have an accident here and there, but for the most part he trained as he recognizes it is the right thing to do. One thing we tried was using fruit loops in the toilet to give him something to aim at and that became a fun game for him. Rewarding a good job always was important. Keep trying, and don't give up!
